A Message from Outgoing President, Summer Salazar

Dear SoACE Members,

Since the day I joined the field of career services in 2012, SoACE and this community have been one of the most meaningful chapters of my professional life. This is one of the places that has fostered my leadership journey and provided access to incredible mentors and role models along the way. I’m so proud of all we’ve accomplished and deeply grateful for the trust you’ve placed in me as president, and the friendships I’ve made along the way. Together, we’ve set ambitious goals, fostered collaboration, and strengthened connections between higher education and employers while supporting hundreds of thousands of students and alumni.

I have made the decision to leave UT Austin and fully dedicate myself to my consulting business, The Etiquette Trainer by Salazar Consulting. My journey with SoACE led me to the world of etiquette training in 2013 when I first became certified as a consultant and trainer, and it has been a passion of mine ever since. With this transition, my membership status will shift from institutional to affiliate. While the timing is bittersweet, I have complete confidence in SoACE’s bright future under Ralph Leal’s leadership. He and I have worked closely together, and with the dedication of our incredible board of directors—both current and newly elected (YAY! Congratulations!)—this organization will continue to thrive and soar!

Thank you to our current board members and to our membership for your support and encouragement during this journey and I look forward to continuing my membership. Please keep in touch and let me know if there is an opportunity to support you and your efforts. See you in Nashville this December!

With gratitude,
Summer
