Sync & Snack: Making Career Fairs Work Better - Utilizing Technology to Improve Career Fair Engagement
Tuesday, June 23, 2026, 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM EDT
Category: Technology KG Events

Technology continues to reshape the career fair experience, but it also brings new questions for career services professionals: How do we balance in-person and virtual engagement? How do we reduce student wait times, support employers who are harder to bring to campus, and avoid overwhelming students and staff with too many platforms? This lunch and learn will explore how career services teams are using technology to improve career fair access, efficiency, and engagement before, during, and after the event. Featuring perspectives from SoACE Technology Group members, Symplicity, and institutions such as Mizzou, the session will highlight emerging trends, including the rise of virtual fairs, employer engagement challenges, booth mapping tools, QR code check-ins, post-fair follow-up opportunities, and student preparation resources such as career closets and professional dress support.Participants will hear practical examples of how campuses are using tools like QR codes and creative on-site resources to streamline logistics and enhance the student and employer experience. The conversation will also address common challenges, including tech fatigue, platform overload, and how to capture students who may have missed key employer conversations during a busy fair.Walk away with practical, scalable ideas for using technology more intentionally in career fair planning, execution, and follow-up, whether you are hosting a large all-majors fair, experimenting with virtual options, or looking for ways to make your existing events more accessible and impactful.
