Many career centers continue to explore AI and the best ways to utilize the resource in career coaching. Join Jessica Hendrick and Erin Lin from the University of Florida and Corinne Townley from Elon University to learn how they are incorporating ChatGPT and OpenAI in their work with students. This session will focus on: 1) The benefits, drawbacks, challenges, and different strategies around the use of AI platforms for resume reviews and mock interviews 2) How to ethically and effectively incorporate ChatGPT/OpenAI as tools in career coaching 3) Some of the early learnings from using ChatGPT in career coachingPanelists Bio:Jessica Hendrick is a Manager for Career Engagement at the University of Florida’s Career Connections Center where she has worked for the last year. In her current role, one of her primary responsibilities is being the site administrator for Quinncia, an AI resume review and mock interview platform. Before working at the University of Florida, Jessica worked at Oklahoma State University. In addition to working in Career Services, Jessica teaches college English classes and is passionate about helping students set themselves up for future success. She enjoys traveling with her 12-year-old son, doing home renovations, camping, and running when she is not at work.Erin Lin came to career services in higher ed with 20+ years of industrial experience as a HR professional. She is passionate about bridging the needs from all stakeholders to achieve student excellence. In her 4.5 year journey as the career pathway coach – STEM, she has focused on how to bring industry knowledge and trends into career coaching and professional development engagement. She is a firm believer of learning by doing, career is a journey of exploring and proving. She is currently the Associate Director of Recruitment & Industry Engagement in the Career Connections Center at the University of Florida. She is a certified career service provider and a SHRM senior certified professional. Erin graduated from Beijing Normal University with B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degree of Psychology. Corinne Townley currently serves as the Assistant Director of Career Services in the Love School of Business at Elon University. In this role she advises business students of all majors and class years with a focus on creating ATS friendly resumes and utilizing Chat GPT ethically in the job search process. Corinne holds her Master’s degree in Education Planning, Policy, and Leadership from William & Mary and a Bachelor of Science in Child Development from Appalachian State University. You can find Corinne outside of the office drinking an oat milk latte while reading the latest pop fiction novel and hanging out with her pets Zoey and Sulley.
