Join a Knowledge Group

Knowledge Groups (KGs) bring together SoACE members who share similar roles, interests, and professional challenges. They provide an easy way to meet colleagues, exchange ideas, access practical resources, and become more involved in the association.

For many members, joining a Knowledge Group is one of their first steps into SoACE. Participation can lead to opportunities to contribute to programs and resources, serve in a volunteer role, and pursue broader leadership positions within the association.

There are two important ways to connect with your SoACE Knowledge Groups:

Select Your Knowledge Groups

Choose or update the Knowledge Groups associated with your SoACE member profile. Your selections help SoACE understand your professional interests and connect you with relevant opportunities.

Join or Update Your KG Selections

You must be logged in to your SoACE member profile to update your selections.

Join the Conversation

SoACE Community, powered by Circle, helps members stay connected between conferences and events. Each Knowledge Group has its own community space where members can receive updates, exchange ideas, ask questions, share resources, and build relationships throughout the year.

Access the SoACE Community

You must be a current SoACE member to participate in Knowledge Group community spaces.

Why Join a Knowledge Group?

Knowledge Groups help members:

  • Build relationships with colleagues who understand their work
  • Discuss emerging challenges, questions, and trends
  • Exchange practical tools, resources, and promising practices
  • Contribute to webinars, conference programs, research, and other professional development
  • Develop leadership experience within SoACE

Get involved at any level

You do not need to hold a formal position to contribute to a Knowledge Group. Members can start or contribute to conversations, share resources and best practices, help conduct research, develop or present webinars, contribute to conference programming, and support special projects and member communications.

Members ready to take the next step may pursue KG leadership roles such as Chair, Assistant Chair, Program Coordinator, or Professional Development Chair. Positions vary by Knowledge Group and typically have a one-year term. KG involvement is a meaningful way to build relationships, demonstrate leadership, and prepare for additional volunteer and leadership opportunities throughout SoACE.

Career Center Leaders

For directors and other career center leaders with responsibilities related to strategic planning, budgeting, staffing, research, outcomes, legal issues, and organizational leadership.

Career Advising and Counseling

For members who advise students and alumni throughout the career-development process, from exploring majors and careers to preparing for a job search.

Experiential Education

For members involved in experiential learning, internships, cooperative education, student employment, and related programs.

Small Colleges and Universities

For members working at institutions of higher education with enrollments of fewer than 6,500 students.

Assessment and Data Analytics

For members who use data, surveys, and other assessment methods to understand student and employer outcomes, improve services, and measure program effectiveness.

Employer

For members representing employing organizations and businesses involved in college relations, recruiting, and university partnerships.

Employer Relations

For higher education professionals who develop employer partnerships, coordinate recruitment activities, and create opportunities for employers to engage with students and campuses.

Technology

For members who design, implement, manage, or support technology, systems, social media, and digital services related to career development and recruiting.
